Hummus & Habibis began during a difficult chapter in my life, as a way to heal, reconnect, and share something beautiful.

My family and I, who came as refugees from Syria to the Netherlands, turned a few humble bowls of hummus made during lockdown at home into a successful catering company that made food for the biggest companies and government institutions.

Since 2020, we’ve cooked from our homes in Amsterdam and Nijmegen, serving weddings, companies, and communities throughout the country. We’ve shared thousands of meals with refugees, led workshops, and built meaningful connections.

In 2025, our journey took an exciting step forward with the opening of our very first restaurant & bar in Amsterdam, a cozy space to savour authentic Syrian dishes and creative cocktails, crafted with love and bold flavours.

Everyone working here is a refugee from Syria; some have been here for many years already, and some are new and still living in the refugee camps. We are powered by our story and authenticity.

Hummus & Habibis is more than food. It’s about family, community, and creating bridges between cultures. It is about finding hope in the middle of darkness, proving that we can thrive and succeed even in the harshest circumstances.
