At the reception centre in Ter Apel, Bader Dabbagh (29) cooks with his father for minor asylum seekers. Flavours from home give some comfort in uncertain times. He knows this better than anyone: making hummus helped him through lockdowns and partly repressed the difficult memories of his flight from Syria.
