Q: Do I need to make a reservation, or can I just walk in?

You can walk in at any time, but on busy evenings we recommend booking to be sure of a table.

Q: Do you have Gluten-free options?

Yes, we have more than 10 gluten-free dishes. We also have gluten-free pita sandwiches.

Q: Do you have vegan and vegetarian options?

Yes, many of our dishes are naturally vegetarian or vegan, and we like to think along the same lines.

Q: Can you accommodate allergies?

Yes. Just let our team know and we will be happy to advise you and adjust dishes where possible.

Q: Are your dishes spicy?

Usually not. We can spice it up if you want, and we always indicate it.

Q: Do you also have alcohol and cocktails?

Yes, we have a selection of wines, cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks that go well with mezze.

Q: Is your restaurant suitable for groups?

Yes. For groups, we can suggest shared dining menus and coordinate in advance what suits you best.

Syrian food is made for sharing. For us, it's not just catering, it's a table full of love, colour and flavour. Whether you are planning a relaxed dinner at home, a team lunch or a wedding party, we will create a menu to suit your occasion.

Most dishes are naturally vegan or vegetarian, and if you want, we can add classics like kibbeh or Maqluba, plus other meat or fish dishes.

We deliver anywhere in the Netherlands. Tell us what you are planning and we will take care of the rest.

The story of Hummus & Habibis

Hummus & Habibis began during a difficult period in my life, as a way to heal, reconnect and share something beautiful.

My family and I, who came to the Netherlands as refugees from Syria, turned a few simple bowls of hummus we had made at home during the lockdown into a successful catering business that made food for the biggest companies and government agencies.

Since 2020, we have been cooking from our homes in Amsterdam and Nijmegen, serving weddings, businesses and communities across the country. We have shared thousands of meals with refugees, run workshops and built meaningful relationships

In 2025, our journey took an exciting step forward with the opening of our very first restaurant & bar in Amsterdam, a cosy place to enjoy authentic Syrian dishes and creative cocktails, prepared with love and bold flavours.

Everyone who works here is a refugee from Syria; some have been here for many years, others are new and still living in refugee camps. We are driven by our story and our authenticity.

Hummus & Habibis is about more than just food. It is about family, community and building bridges between cultures. It is about finding hope in the midst of darkness, to prove that we can thrive and succeed even in the most difficult circumstances.

I loved the atmosphere and open kitchen at Hummus & Habibis. The aubergine dishes were a highlight, especially Baba's Aubergine Fatteh, plus the crunchy kibbeh with a creamy sauce. Friendly staff and a perfect finish with Syrian coffee and mahalabia

Food is excellent, as a Syrian it was really satisfying! Staff is super lovely, and the atmosphere is really cozy (Bonus points for good music from diverse arab artists!). They serve alcohol which is rather rare for a middle eastern restaurant, so you can rest assured that's available if you would like to drink. Highly recommended ❤️

From Food to Service, this is a superb place. The owner is actively involved and you can feel the warmth and soul in this place and food. The food si super tasty and you get to try many different dishes if coming with a group. I personally had a favourite: the Labneh ♥️

Loved everything about this spot! The food was absolutely incredible, especially the Fatteh, and the staff was lovely! It's also very vegetarian friendly. We had a great time and will definitely be back:)
